Landed costs spread freight, duty or handling across the inventory items on a bill so each item carries its true cost. Plus plan and above.

  1. First record the freight charge — on the same bill, another bill, or an expense — and mark that line Freight.
  2. Open the bill that carries the goods and click ⋯ → Add landed cost.
  3. Source date (on or before) lists freight sources up to that date that still have an unallocated amount. Choose the Source type (Bill or Expense) and the Source transaction, then the Freight line if the source has several.
  4. Choose the Allocation method:
    • By value — in proportion to each line's amount;
    • By quantity — in proportion to quantity (in the item's base unit);
    • By weight — quantity × the item's weight (kg, g, lb and oz are converted to one unit first);
    • By volume — quantity × length × width × height;
    • Manual — your own amount per line.
  5. The table shows each line's share, worked out by LedgersLab and rounded so the lines add up to the freight amount exactly. Typing a figure in a row switches to Manual; a manual split must still total the freight amount. Weight and volume need those details on every item — if one is missing the dialog says which.
  6. Add a Description and click Allocate.

Allocations appear in the bill's Landed costs panel. Removing one reverses its postings and rolls the item costs back.
