#The Projects list

Every project with its status, dates, managers and progress. Filter by Status and Archived (Active only / Archived only); group by status; tick rows for Delete selected.

#Creating a project

Collaboration → Projects → New project: Title *, Start date *, End date, Status, Managers (who runs it), Members (who can see it and log time) and Description. Save.

Statuses: New, In progress, Completed, On hold, Canceled, Expired (past its end date without completion).

Project as a dimension. Every project is also a value of the Project analytic dimension (Chapter 22, Analytic Dimensions). Pick it under Dimensions on any invoice, bill, expense or journal line to book that revenue or cost to the project, then filter Profit & Loss, General Ledger or Trial Balance by it. The value is created with the project and keeps its name; archiving the project archives the value, and deleting the project keeps the value (archived) so lines already tagged keep their history.

#The project page

Header with the title, status, dates and progress. Tabs:

  • Overview — Progress (tasks done against total), Managers, Members and Description.
  • Board — a kanban of the project's tasks by stage. Every project starts with a default pipeline; add stages with New stage (Title and Stage type — Work in progress or End stage — completes the task). Drag a task between columns to move it; moving it into an end stage completes it.
  • Timesheets — hours logged against the project, by person and task, in a weekly grid. Log time opens the time entry (below).
  • Chat — a running conversation for the project team: write a message, Record a voice note, Post a meeting (a title and time that becomes a meeting on everyone's calendar) or Schedule a meeting.

#Tasks

Create a task from the board, the project or Collaboration → Tasks → New task: Title *, Project, Stage, Status (To do, In progress, Completed, Expired), Start date, Due date, Task managers, Assignees and Description.

Collaboration → Tasks lists every task you can see across projects with filters for Project, Status and Due on or before, grouping by status or project, and bulk delete.

#Logging time

Log time on a project (or from a task): Project *, Task, Employee, Date, Time spent, Status (In progress / Completed) and What did you work on?. Time appears in the project's Timesheets tab and in HRMS → Attendance → Timesheets (Chapter 17). Time logged against a billable project can be pulled onto the customer's invoice.
