1. On Contacts → Customers click New customer (or use + Create → Customer from any page).
  2. A drawer titled New customer opens, split into sections. Fill in what you know — only Currency, Display name and Email are required.

#Name and contact

FieldNotes
TypeBusiness or Individual.
Currency *The currency this customer is invoiced in. Multi-currency needs the Essentials plan; otherwise this is your base currency.
Salutation, First name, Last nameThe contact person.
Company nameThe customer's company.
Display name *The name printed on invoices, statements and lists — make it recognisable.
Email *Where documents are sent by default.
Work phone, Personal phone, WebsiteOptional.
ActiveOn by default. Switch it off to retire a customer without deleting their history; inactive customers cannot be picked on new documents.
Portal accessSwitch on to email this customer a link to set up their own login to the Customer Portal (Chapter 21), where they see their invoices, payments and statement. Switching it off revokes the login. Once saved, the row shows the state — Invited, Active (with the last sign-in), Link expired or Revoked — and a Resend button that issues a fresh link and disables the old one.

#Billing address and Shipping address

Attention, Address line 1, Address line 2, City, State / region, State / province code, Postcode, Country, Phone, Fax and Email. The billing address prints on invoices; the shipping address is used on deliveries and appears as Ship to on invoices when that header field is enabled.

#Contact persons

Add as many people as you like at the customer: Salutation, First name, Last name, Email, Phone, Mobile, Designation and Department. Mark one as the primary contact. Each person can be given Own portal login — their own Customer Portal sign-in in addition to the customer's.

#More addresses

Extra delivery or site addresses, each with a Label (for example Warehouse), so you can pick them on orders and deliveries.

#Custom fields
