1.1Creating your account and organisation

Chapter 1 · Getting started·3 min read·5 topics

If your company is new to LedgersLab and nobody has invited you yet, you create the account yourself. That makes you the owner of the organisation — the person with every permission, who can invite the rest of the team.

Sign-up is a short three-step wizard. The steps are listed down the left side of the dialog so you can always see where you are:

  1. Your account — name, email and password.
  2. Your organization — company details and defaults.
  3. Your plan — pick how you want to start.

#Step 1 — Your account

  1. Open the LedgersLab sign-in page and click Create an account (or go straight to the Register page). The dialog is titled Create your account — "Three short steps and your books are ready. This is the first."
  2. Fill in:
    • First name and Last name — both required.
    • Email — the work address you will sign in with. Use an inbox you can check now: a verification code is sent to it in a moment.
    • Password — at least 8 characters.
  3. Click Create account. By creating an account you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy linked beneath the button.

#Confirming your email

Right after step 1 the dialog switches to Confirm your email.

  1. Check the inbox you registered with. You will receive a 6-digit verification code.
  2. Type it into the Verification code box and click Verify.
  3. If the code never arrived, click Resend code — "A new code is on its way." Check your spam folder if it still does not appear.
  4. If you leave the page for too long the screen says This verification step expired. Click the button to return to sign-in and start again; nothing was saved.

#Step 2 — Your organization

The dialog now reads Set up your organization — "We'll use these details to initialize your books. You can change anything later from Settings."

Click Continue.

#Step 3 — Your plan

The last step, Choose your plan, shows the four plans side by side (see Which plan do I need? in the introduction). Each card lists its monthly price, an introductory price for the first three months, the number of user seats and accountant seats, and the features it adds. Pick one and click Get started.

#Building your books

LedgersLab now creates your organisation's ledger: the chart of accounts, tax rates, document numbering, default templates and every table the modules need. You will see a short Setting up your books screen with a progress bar and the stage it is on, then Welcome to the Lab. It takes a few seconds. When it finishes you land on the Workspace (Chapter 2).
