An estimate (quote) is a priced proposal sent before any commitment. It can be approved and converted to a sales order.
#Creating an estimate
Sales → Estimates → New estimate. Header: Customer *, Estimate number (auto when blank), Reference, Estimate date *, Payment terms (sets the expiry), Expiration date * (defaults to 30 days) and Currency — the customer's by default; another currency needs an exchange rate, prefilled from the daily rate feed as on invoices, and the invoice it converts to keeps both. Add line items and an optional Adjustment, then a Note and Terms & conditions. Click Create estimate. An estimate started from a CRM deal (Create quote, Chapter 18) arrives with the customer, currency and reference filled in, and stays listed on the deal.
