• Forms open either as a drawer sliding in from the right (contacts, items, settings records) or, for documents such as invoices and bills, as a full paper-style page that looks like the printed document.
  • Required fields are marked with *. Leaving one empty shows the error under the field and, in sectioned drawers, opens the section that contains it.
  • Long forms are split into sections you can expand and collapse (Name and contact, Billing address, Payments & tax…).
  • Errors returned by the server (for example a duplicate number) appear next to the field they concern, or at the top of the form when they are general.
  • Leaving a form with unsaved changes asks you to confirm.
  • Cancel discards, Save/Create commits. Document forms also offer Save as draft where a draft state exists.

#Sending documents by email

Every customer- or vendor-facing document has a Send Mail button that opens the same mail drawer:

  • From — one of your organisation's sender addresses (Settings → Communication → Emails).
  • To, Cc, Bcc — pre-filled from the contact; add more addresses.
  • Subject and Message — pre-filled from the email template for that document type; edit freely.
  • Attach PDF — includes the document's PDF, rendered with the template chosen for it.

The send is recorded on the document's lifecycle timeline as emailed.

#PDFs

PDF on any document opens the printed version in a new tab, ready to download or print. The design (colours, fonts, letterhead, which columns and header fields appear) comes from the PDF template assigned to the document — see Templates in Chapter 22.
