9.6Bulk Import (historical data)

Chapter 9 · Accounting·1 min read

Accounting → Bulk Import brings historical records — sales invoices, bills, expenses, payments, payroll, bank receipts and opening AR/AP balances — in from a spreadsheet. Three steps: download the template, fill it in, upload it back. Nothing is created until you confirm.

  1. Download Excel template. Its dropdowns are pre-populated from your chart of accounts, tax rates, customers and vendors, so you can only choose values that exist. Sheets include Sales, Expenses, Bills, Payroll, Bank Receipts, Payments to Suppliers, Open Invoices (AR migration) and Open Bills (AP migration).
  2. Fill it in and save as .xlsx. Click or drag the workbook onto the upload area — it must be the downloaded template so the columns line up.
  3. Click Preview. Every row is validated without creating anything. The summary shows Total rows, OK and Rejected; the table lists each row with its Sheet, Row, Status (OK, Rejected, Skipped) and the reason for any rejection. Fix the spreadsheet and preview again.
  4. Click Run Import and confirm. OK rows create real documents; the results show Created in your books with links to each. Reset clears the file.

For migrating from other accounting systems (Tally, QuickBooks Online) and for the eight-step cutover checklist, see Settings → Integrations → Migration playbook (Chapter 22).
