An adjustment increases or decreases stock by hand — stock counts, damage, loss, theft, samples.
#Creating an adjustment
Inventory → Adjustments → New adjustment:
- Date *, Reference.
- Adjustment type * — Increase stock or Decrease stock.
- Adjustment account * — the cost-of-goods or expense account that takes the offsetting value.
- Reason * — Stock count, Damaged, Lost, Expired, Theft, Sample / Promo, Found or Other.
- Item *, Quantity * (greater than zero), Cost (optional) — blank uses the item's current average cost — and Warehouse. With a scanner, Scan the item fills the item; scanning it again adds 1.
- Lots — which batch or serials (section 10.11) and, when the warehouse has bins, which bin (section 10.14); left alone, the putaway rule places an increase and a decrease comes from the storage bins in pick order.
- Description and attachments.
An adjustment is one item. To check a whole warehouse or shelf and book every difference at once, use a stock count (section 10.15).
Save as draft keeps it editable with no stock effect; Save & publish moves the stock and posts the value.
The list shows Date, Reference, Reason, Direction (Increase / Decrease), Account and Status (Draft / Published). Open a draft and click Publish when the count is final; Delete is available only before publishing. Published adjustments are locked.
