10.9Warehouses and units of measure

Chapter 10 · Inventory·1 min read

  • Settings → Inventory → Warehouses — each warehouse has a Name *, Code, Address, City, Country, Phone, Email and Website. One warehouse is primary (the default on documents; use Make primary on another row to change it). The Bins button opens the warehouse's bins, how arrivals are received and what sits where (section 10.14).
  • Settings → Inventory → Putaway rules — where arriving stock is shelved (section 10.14). Settings → Inventory → Item attributes — Size, Colour and the like for items with variants (section 10.12).
  • Settings → Inventory → Units of Measure — units are grouped in categories (Weight, Length, Count…). Each category has one Reference unit (ratio 1) and any number of units that are Bigger than reference or Smaller than reference, each with its Ratio (a Dozen is 12 Units; a gram is 0.001 kg), a Display rounding and Active. Documents convert quantities to the base unit automatically.
  • Settings → Inventory → Items — the default income, expense and inventory accounts for new items, the number of Decimal places for quantities, and behaviours: Allow duplicate item names (off, two items can't share a name, when created or when renamed), and the Default costing method (AVCO or FIFO) for items whose category doesn't set one.
